06-24-25: The Birthday Blog
Disclaimer... I'm publishing this blog the day before my birthday, because I'll be busy tomorrow- but my birthday is on the 25th, not the 24th!
Hello everyone and welcome to a very special edition of this blog I update a few times a year. Today's episode is Birthday, among other things...
This is a bit of a milestone birthday for me, which is weird to think about. I'll be turning 25, which is still super young, but like, fuck! Quarter of a century already?! Time flies when you're chewing gum. I'm doing a few different things to celebrate- I had a small discord call with a few friends the other night where we played games and watched a couple movies (with a very special thank-you to my dearest friend Ki for organizing the thing). I fumbled the scheduling a little- it turns out it's hard to accomodate for european friends and australian friends at the same time- but it was fun despite the low turnout! I'm having another discord call tonight with just my close friends, since one of them couldn't make it over the weekend- I bought that Date Everything game and we're gonna try it out, and if it sucks then we'll probably default to our usual bday tradition of making dick-shaped rock formations in Planet Zoo. I'm very excited for it. My parents are out of town right now but should get back tomorrow afternoon, and my brother is also coming into town tomorrow afternoon, so we'll probably do a little birthday dinner or something. I'm trying to think of places that everyone will like- I know I'm the Birthday Thing so everyone's gonna make me choose, but my brother is notoriously picky and I don't want to make him go somewhere he wouldn't like.
As for presents... I am very lucky to still get presents at my big age lol. Ki got me a Paul McCartney CD since he just re-released a bunch. I haven't opened the package yet, I swear. My mom got me a toy for preschoolers that draws pictures for them- Not super useful but very cute. I plan to make it draw flowers and things on my letters to penpals. I gave my brother a gift card last year for his birthday, so that's what I'm expecting in return, though time will tell... I don't expect anything from all of my online friends but I wouldn't be surprised if I got some art of my OCs, which is always a treat. On the other hand, my friend Garet always draws a strange MS Paint doodle for people's birthdays, so I'm excited to see what this year's has in store... Here's 2023's for reference.
I've gone to the Doctor for the first time since I was a kid- not counting emergency room visits. This is mostly just for the sake of going to the doctor, but there are a couple things I had on my mind. Lately I've been really excessively tired, like, all the time. She prescribed a sleep study, so we'll see how that turns out... I also apparently have High Cholesterol. Boooo! Logically I know how to fix this, but in practice, I don't know if I'm strong enough to give up dairy. I'm a certified ice-cream-lover. And cheese lover. And milk lover. And butter freak.
I do really need to start eating healthier and being a bit more active. Boooooooooo! Honestly, I can't be surprised about the eating healthier thing, with the amount of takeout I have. I just... hate cooking. I need to learn more easy recipes that I can make myself. And less of them should include Spam, probably. As for exercising... It's so hard to make yourself go out for a walk when it's 100F outside, but I'll try!

I've also finished a lovely piece for an upcoming Star Trek Polyship Calendar. I can't show any of it yet, but I got to make the piece for January, and I did some classic McSpirk. I'll be sure to plug the calendar here when it comes out- keep an eye out!
I'm currently modding an upcoming Star Wars Halloween zine. It's a delightful mix of creepy and cute, and is my first time modding a zine, so that will be fun. It's still in early stages now. I'll update on it as well!
Lately most of my art has been for a closed species that I'm a guest artist for. For anyone unfamiliar with closed species, it's essentially character design adoptables that are all the same fictional species with established lore and design guidelines. I know closed species get a lot of flack- some rightfully so- but this is a pro-artist species with lenient guidelines and absolutely no beef with knock-off designs. It's all for fun! When I'm not finishing up adopts for that species, I've been drawing and RPing my OCs. I've also drawn a little Deltarune Ch 3 fanart...

And if anyone is wondering what I'd like for my birthday, I really do treasure all of the drawings and chats left on my homepage. That drawbox is the best thing I've ever added to my site. I'm thinking of making a Best Of Drawbox page soon for all my most favorite drawings people have left me. Right now it looks like there's a....... Map of Africa! Cool?!?
