03-23-26: March Madness

Well, I reckon it's about time I update my blog! Happy March, everybody!

Zine O'Biology Volume 2 is LIVE!

Starting off by letting y'all know that the second volume of the Zine O'Biology Star Trek zine is officially out and available for download for FREE here! It was awesome to get to work on this zine again- I love the scientific essays gimmick. This time I worked in collaboration with a writer to make a companion piece for their essay. You can actually see the piece in my Art Gallery, it's the final piece I did in 2025 and I'm super proud of how it turned out. The person who was running the zine has since stepped down but gave permission for someone else to pick up the project for a Volume 3, so I hope someone takes that torch! If so you'll see me drawing for them again!

From Dusk 'til Dawn OC Zine is LIVE!

Yeah! That other zine I mentioned in another blog entry at some point! The From Dusk 'til Dawn OC Pinup Zine has been officially released as well, and you can pick it up for free or PWYW here! All proceeds go to Crips for eSims, a disability justice-led mutual aid and crowdfunding project that provides critical Internet access to Palestinians in Gaza through eSIM donations, so it's definitely worth kicking in a few bucks if you're interested. This is a pinup zine and contains some NSFW, so tread with caution! I loved working on this project; I think OC zines are awesome and I love getting glimpses into all these amazing artists' stories. I drew my OC D'mari and Ki's OC Misae cuddling it up on a winter morning. Ki was also in this zine and drew their OC Shelby and my OC Adrian doing laundry, and their piece is SO GOOD and super cute and lowkey better than mine, so you should go download it just to see their art if nothing else. You can see my piece in the zine or (if you're LAZY) you can check it out in my Art Gallery as well. It's the first piece of 2026!

Work Stuff

We're knee deep in that public education documentary that we started working on back in- gee, back in October? We've got a rough cut of Episode 1 with Episodes 2-4 in various stages of completion. It definitely still has a ways to go but the finish line is in sight! Which is good because this thing is set to begin airing next month. After this, we're actually gonna start another documentary on the history of my hometown, so that will be interesting (and one I'm more equipped to help with in regards to research and connections).

We're also getting the ball rolling for our annual summer concert. It's a country artist again this year and I'm even less excited about it than I was last year. It's so not my thing, and I bet we could sell more tickets with more recent and more relevant artists- like jeez, current country singers would be one thing, but getting people who peaked 30 years ago is just a hard sell. Anyway, I'm absolutely dreading that concert because we are a TINY station and setting up the venue is all-hands-on-deck from 7AM-1AM day of. It's just a LOT of manual labor and it really kills me every year. Like, that is so not in my job description. Not to mention it's usually hot as HELL out there in the middle of summer in the literal desert. UUUUUGH I'm dreading it but at least once it's over I won't have to think about it until around this time next year!

RP Groupisms

I've started work on a short-run 6-week sci-fi roleplay group with my friend Ki acting as my co-mod and rubber duck.

We've been picking at planning for the past couple weeks and finally sat down to do a whole bunch of work for it last night. I'm super excited to see how this turns out because, while I mod groups all the time, I haven't actually run my own campaign since- jeez, like 2020 probably? I am a bit nervous, and the plot is super player-driven so I don't have quite as much control as I'd like, but I think it will turn out super fun. And if not, it's only 6 weeks! Who cares! I got the visual application template done last night and I'm going to be working on the icon and written character application template this week. Ki is gonna be designing some fun in-character uniforms for the characters to be wearing. I need to prep more event stuff but we have a plot overview locked down and we butchered borrowed the Mothership TTRPG mechanics to use for this campaign. We're hoping to run it from June 15th-July 31st!

Site Updates

The third year anniversary of me making my site is this month! In fact, it's next Monday! I can hardly believe it's been three years. Time flies when you're having fun. Time also flies when you lose your job, hit a depressive slump, and ignore your website for half a year while you move back home. I can't believe how different everything is from when I started. Thank you guys for being here with me on this journey! Thanks so much for the views, follows, comments, messages, and silly drawings you've left me! I can't even begin to express how rewarding this hobby has been.

I'm currently working on my first shrine! It's gonna be about Yellow Submarine. It's coming along pretty well so far- it makes me so happy to go look at it, heehee. I haven't linked it to my "Junk" page yet but that's where it will live when it's finished. It is a little difficult, just conceptually speaking. One of the reasons I've waited so long to try and make a shrine is that I'm not sure what to write- I know there's no one way to do it, I've seen all sorts of shrines, from what could be wikipedia articles on the topic to just personal thoughts and feelings to even just images without much text. I just need to figure out a way to do it that makes sense in my brain and feels solid and interesting. I'm excited to keep working on it! I'm already thinking up some other shrines I could do. Spock shrine? Frasier shrine? TV shrine? Hmm....

Thanks as always for reading! I'm gonna try to get back to updating a little more often!
